Aliens Vs. Predator (AvP) made it’s way onto the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I had the opportunity to play through the game on the Xbox 360 and was left with mixed feelings.
The nice thing about AvP is instead of one long drawn out story, you get to experience three separate storylines as seen through the eyes of three characters, which definitely helps keep the game fresh.
The first thing I noticed about AvP is its difficulty level. As someone who has been playing games for over 20 years, I found the learning curve a bit too much for the average gamer
and it took me a couple of hours to get used to the controls. Also, some of the game mechanics take a would-be amazing game and make it frustrating. For instance, playing through the Alien campaign allows you to defy the laws of physics by climbing on walls at fast speeds; however those speeds deny the user the controls necessary to enjoy being able to successfully execute those moves.
Another production flaw I found with the game is that the levels are poorly designed, with the game’s camera not being help much either. A few more months of polish, addressing these issues that plague the programming and design end of the game, would have been appreciated and definitely would have led to an overall more solid game.
